I learned that in Spanish it is not as simple to say phrases such as we are, you are, they are. There are more factors that go into deciding which tense of ser you use because it is irregular.
The present tense of ser has with out a doubt presented to be the most difficult part of Spanish so far.
I had no idea that this we give me so much trouble. I am starting to get a little better grasp on it but it has still presented a problem for me.
Matt, this is gonna sound crazy, but make up a silly song for it. Which ever type of musica is your fave, set the conjugation to a tune. Repetition of the phrases help. For instance, in English it would sound something like "I am, you are, I am, you are, I am, you are, he iiiissssss she issssssss" So for Spanish, sing "Yo soy, tu eres, Yo soy, tu eres, Yo soy, tu eres el/ella/usteeeeeeeed es" ... make sense? Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteI found the conjugation and explanation of why it's done that way confusing too. I like the idea of a song though, it could really help. Me amo los pequeños ayudantes de esa manera!
